For the third year in a row, the International Two-Wheeler Exhibition has received ISO 20121 certification from TÜV NORD Italia, the international standard for sustainable event management. The certificate was delivered yesterday evening in the hands of EICMA S.p.A. president Pietro Meda, CEO Paolo Magri and event director Giacomo Casartelli. EICMA 2022 thus confirms its primacy as a sustainable automotive exhibition event in the international scenario. The path towards obtaining the certification, supported by the company RIGHT HUB, analyzed the impact characteristics in the design and organization of the event, also in order to involve and influence all stakeholders (staff, visitors, suppliers, exhibitors, operators and media), promoting good practices and behaviors before, during and after this Edition number 79 of EICMA.
The panel of evaluators (made up of EICMA, RIGHT HUB and PLEF-Planet Life Economy Foundation ETS) then awarded three exhibitors, from among several candidate companies, the "Sustainable Exhibitor Award EICMA 2022," the new and important initiative introduced by this edition to actively involve all exhibitors.
The award goes to Sweden's CAKE 0 Emmission AB, first place, for its commitment turned to year-to-year reuse of all eco-friendly components and materials and communication of its commitment to sustainable development; second place to Denmark's SBS Friction A/S for designing a recycled wood stand with LED lighting; third place to Italy's SST s.r.l. for its exhibitor policy turned to the use of all stand components for other events and the use of eco-friendly materials and LED lighting.
EICMA S.p.A. President Pietro Meda, on the sidelines of the certificate presentation moment, stressed that "EICMA's is a path of responsibility, which also becomes a strategic asset for our business and a source of inspiration for our exhibitors and visitors. A commitment to sustainability, which goes hand in hand with that of the two-wheel industry we represent and which sets the event as a reference in this area."
Visitors to the 2022 Edition, scheduled until Sunday, Nov. 13, at Fiera Milano Rho, will thus encounter coordinated communication installations in their visiting experience to raise their awareness and learn about the prerogatives of the certification.
These range from recycling bins to a ban on throwing cigarette butts on the ground to tips on how to get to the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition center in a green way. Sustainable management also covers energy efficiency, the health and safety of workers involved in the organization, the accessibility of people with disabilities at EICMA, and the fight against food waste with the collection of surpluses produced during the event.
During the presentation of the certificate, TÜV NORD Italia congratulated the organizers on the achievement. TÜV NORD Italia CEO Stefano Porelli emphasized that "EICMA's will to continuously pursue the sustainability goals and the path of innovation and improvement undertaken for this important exhibition event.”
